Parliament Hill occupies a bluff of Precambrian rock above the Ottawa River and is the seat of the Canadian federal government, dominated by the Centre Block with its Peace Tower completed in 1927. The Gothic Revival limestone buildings and manicured grounds host the daily Changing the Guard ceremony in summer and a major light show projected onto the facades on summer evenings. The ceremonial Centennial Flame at the main entrance has burned continuously since 1967.
