Turkey's first museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art occupies a striking building on the Karaköy waterfront designed by the architect Renzo Piano. Its collection charts the development of Turkish painting, sculpture, photography and new media from the late Ottoman era to the present, alongside changing international exhibitions. Its reflective façade and rooftop terrace frame views across the Bosphorus toward the historic peninsula. Cinema screenings, a library and education programmes make it a leading platform for living artists.
