This memorial museum occupies the former residence of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, where she lived and was assassinated in her garden in 1984. Preserved rooms display her personal effects, photographs and documents tracing her life and political career, along with a section devoted to her son Rajiv. A glass-covered path marks the spot where she was killed, and the blood-stained sari she wore is exhibited. Set among lawns in Lutyens' Delhi, the house draws large numbers of visitors seeking a turbulent chapter of history.
