Housed in the former prime ministerial residence of Teen Murti Bhavan, this institution combines a memorial museum with one of the country's foremost archives for modern history. The museum preserves rooms used by Jawaharlal Nehru and mounts exhibits on the freedom struggle, while the library holds vast collections of papers and private records used by scholars. Its grounds contain a planetarium near the government district. A leading research centre, it has been reorganised recently to broaden its focus toward the nation's prime ministers.
