This small eighteenth-century mosque stands on a roundabout in the heart of Lutyens' Delhi, an older survivor incorporated into the planned imperial capital that grew up around it. Crowned by gilded domes that give it the name golden garden mosque, the compact structure predates the surrounding government buildings by nearly two centuries. Its position amid the wide avenues and bungalows of the administrative district makes it a striking juxtaposition of Mughal-era and colonial-era Delhi. It remains an active place of prayer today.
