This memorial museum occupies the mansion where Mahatma Gandhi spent his final months and was fatally shot in the garden in early 1948. Preserved rooms display his few personal belongings, and a path of concrete footsteps traces his last walk toward the spot where he fell, now marked by a martyr's column. Interactive exhibits and photographic displays trace his life and the freedom movement he led. Set in Lutyens' Delhi on what was once the Birla family's residence, the house retains a spare, reflective atmosphere.
