This compact shopping district was laid out in the early 1950s and named in honour of a frontier leader, originally serving refugees who settled here after Partition. Its two facing rows of shops have since grown into one of the capital's most upscale retail enclaves, lined with bookshops, boutiques, pharmacies and restaurants tucked into narrow upper-floor spaces. Despite modest architecture, it draws diplomats and browsers who prize its walkable lanes and long-established stores within Lutyens' Delhi.
