Bratislava Region
Devin Castle stands on a steep limestone crag at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers, at the point where Slovakia, Austria, and the Czech Republic nearly meet. Occupation of the site extends back to Celtic and Roman times, and the ruins visible today date mainly from medieval and early modern phases before the castle's destruction by Napoleonic troops in 1809. The view from the keep's remains down to the double-river confluence is especially strong in evening light.

Prešov Region
The High Tatras form the highest range of the Carpathians, rising abruptly from the Poprad Basin to granite peaks above 2,600 metres. Lomnický štít, accessible by a historic cog railway and cable car, offers a high-altitude observatory and panoramic views extending on clear days to the Hungarian plain. The chain of valley lakes beneath the northern faces — including Štrbské Pleso, Popradské Pleso, and Skalnaté Pleso — rewards both casual walkers and serious alpinists.

Žilina region
Čičmany is a small highland village in the Rajčanka valley of northwestern Slovakia, distinguished by the distinctive white geometric patterns painted over the dark timber facades of its log houses. The decorative motifs, derived from embroidery patterns, cover entire house exteriors in a system unique to this village and dating from rebuilding work following an 1832 fire. The village has been comprehensively protected as a folk architecture reserve and inspired patterns used in Slovak design.
Chapter IV · Banská Bystrica Region · 33 places
Banská Bystrica Region
A quiet karst plateau of meadows, sinkholes, and beech woods in central Slovakia, home to a herd of semi-wild horses. Ruined Muráň castle crowns a crag on its edge.
