Slovak Paradise National Park is a plateau of limestone karst in eastern Slovakia, dissected by a series of narrow gorges through which trails ascend via fixed iron ladders, chains, and wooden walkways set directly into the rock. The Prielom Hornádu canyon along the Hornád River forms the park's southern boundary, navigable on foot in an 16-kilometre gorge trail that crosses the river dozens of times on wooden footbridges. The Dobšiná Ice Cave at the park's eastern margin preserves one of the largest volumes of cave ice in the world.
