The Warner Theatre opened in 1924 as a lavish movie palace and vaudeville house in downtown Washington, built in an ornate style with gilded plasterwork and grand chandeliers. After decades of decline it was restored in the 1990s to its original opulence and now serves as a venue for concerts, comedy, dance and Broadway touring shows. Its richly decorated auditorium seats around 1,800. Located near the White House and the city's theatre district, it is a fixture of the capital's entertainment offerings.
