United States Navy Memorial

Located on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House, this memorial honors those who have served in the sea services. Its centerpiece is a large granite plaza inlaid with a map of the world's oceans, flanked by fountains and masts flying signal flags. A bronze statue known as The Lone Sailor stands watch at the plaza's edge, cast partly from metal salvaged from historic Navy ships. An adjacent visitor center presents exhibits and a theater dedicated to naval history and personnel.
