Located in President's Park near the White House, this bronze memorial marks the site of the first national Boy Scout Jamboree, held in Washington in 1937. A striding uniformed scout is flanked by two larger allegorical figures, a man and a woman representing the ideals passed to youth. Water basins and low walls carrying the Scout oath and law surround the group. Dedicated in 1964, it was funded by scouts across the country, and the tree-shaded plaza sits along the Ellipse route between the White House and the Washington Monument.
