The Sultan's Pool is a large historic reservoir set in the Hinnom Valley below the western walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. Once used to collect water for the city, it takes its name from the Ottoman sultan Suleiman, who reconstructed it in the 16th century, though earlier pools existed on the site since antiquity. A restored stone bridge and sabil, or public fountain, stand nearby. Long since dry, the broad basin now serves as an open-air venue for concerts and events, framed by the ramparts and the slopes of Mount Zion.
