This narrow food lane branching off Chandni Chowk is famous for its long-established shops frying stuffed flatbreads known as paranthas. Several family-run establishments here trace their origins to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, offering an ever-widening range of fillings from potato and cauliflower to more unusual sweet and savoury varieties. Cramped seating and open griddles give the alley an intimate, smoky character. A fixture of Old Delhi's culinary heritage, it draws food enthusiasts sampling its tradition.
