This early eighteenth-century college stands just outside the Ajmeri Gate of the old walled city and is among the most important surviving Mughal-era educational institutions in the capital. Built by a nobleman of the imperial court, it centres on an arcaded courtyard with a mosque and the founder's tomb along one side. In the colonial period it became the nucleus of what grew into a major university before the campus relocated. Its serene courtyard and pillared cloisters offer a contrast to the bustle of the nearby markets.
