This octagonal Mughal tomb near the Qutb complex was built in the late sixteenth century for a general of Emperor Akbar who was executed for murder and, by tradition, buried here alongside his mother. Its low dome and pillared verandah follow a Lodi-inspired plan, while the confusing internal passages earned it the local nickname Bhul Bhulaiya, or labyrinth. Standing on a raised terrace at the edge of Mehrauli, it commands views over the surrounding settlement and marks a transitional style of funerary design.
