This early sixteenth-century stepwell lies within the Mehrauli Archaeological Park and ranks among the most graceful in the capital. Built during the Lodi period, it descends in a series of arcaded galleries that once provided a cool retreat and a reliable water source through Delhi's harsh summers. Ornamental plasterwork and pillared verandahs frame the deep rectangular shaft, and a small mosque and tomb stand nearby. Its stacked arches and shaded levels make it a striking subject for photographers.
