This museum occupies the imposing former Postal Services Palace on Victory Avenue and gathers artefacts spanning Romanian history from prehistory to the modern age. Highlights include a full-size plaster cast of Trajan's Column, letting visitors read its Dacian war reliefs at eye level, and the dazzling gold Treasury with the Pietroasele hoard. Coins, medieval regalia, and archaeological finds fill the galleries of the grand nineteenth-century building. Long renovations have kept parts closed, but the Lapidarium remains a draw.
