Kretzulescu Church stands at a corner of Revolution Square, a fine example of the Brâncovenesc style built in 1722 by the boyar Iordache Crețulescu. Its brick facade shows blind arcades and a carved stone porch, while faded frescoes cover the entrance vault. The church survived proposals for demolition during communist urban clearances and was carefully restored after suffering damage in the 1989 revolution. Surrounded by grand buildings and busy traffic, it offers a quiet pocket of devotion in the modern city centre.
