Chapter I · Bujumbura Mairie · 4 places

Bujumbura Mairie

This living museum in Bujumbura combines a small zoo, reconstructed traditional homesteads and displays presenting the heritage of Burundi. Visitors can see local reptiles including crocodiles, view a replica royal hut and learn about the country's history. Craft demonstrations and drumming performances animate the grounds. As one of the capital's principal cultural institutions, it introduces Burundian traditions, wildlife and daily life. The compact lakeside site blends museum, cultural centre and wildlife park in one visit.

Chapter III · Burunga · 1 place

Burunga

A cluster of waterfalls in southeastern Burundi tumbling through forest and grassland, protected as a natural reserve. Several distinct drops can be reached by short trails from a central path.

Chapter IV · Gitega Province · 1 place

Gitega Province

Burundi's political capital since 2019 and the historical seat of its monarchy, set in cool central highlands. The National Museum holds royal artifacts, and the town is the home stage of the Royal Drummers of Burundi, whose ritual drumming is inscribed by UNESCO. Its unhurried streets offer a calmer counterpoint to Bujumbura.
