This sandy stretch along Lake Tanganyika on the outskirts of Bujumbura is the capital's favourite beach escape, drawing residents to swim, relax and gather at lakeside bars and restaurants. The freshwater lake, one of the deepest and longest in the world, offers clear water and views toward the mountains of the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo. Sunsets over the water are especially popular. The palm-lined shore provides a rare leisure spot near the city, blending swimming, dining and lakeside socialising in a scenic setting.
