The Westerpark is a park in the west of Amsterdam, expanded in the 2000s to link the original nineteenth-century green space with a former municipal gasworks. The industrial buildings of the Westergasfabriek now host galleries, cafés, a cinema and event spaces amid the greenery. Lawns, canals and a wading pool draw families, while festivals and markets fill the old factory yards. The park blends recreation, culture and industrial heritage in a busy, informal setting near the city centre.
