Victoria Palace is the headquarters of the Romanian government, a monumental building on Victory Square in northern Bucharest. Begun in the late 1930s and completed after the Second World War, its austere modernist facade of stone reflects the official architecture of the mid-twentieth century. The building houses the offices of the prime minister and the cabinet. It faces a busy roundabout often used for large public demonstrations. While the interior is closed, its imposing frontage is a well-known landmark.
