One of the oldest research museums in Romania, the Antipa Museum opened its landmark building in 1908 and is named for the naturalist who reorganized its collections. Its dioramas, an innovation for their time, present African savannas, deep-sea life, and Romanian habitats in immersive settings. A star exhibit is the reconstructed skeleton of a Deinotherium, a prehistoric elephant relative found in the country. Extensive galleries on geology, insects, and human evolution make it a favourite outing for families and school groups.
