The Church of Mary Magdalene is a Russian Orthodox church on the slope of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, recognisable for its cluster of gilded onion domes rising among the trees. Built in 1888 by Tsar Alexander III in memory of his mother, it reflects the Muscovite style transplanted to the Holy Land. The interior holds icons and paintings, and the church is associated with the Russian imperial family. Its golden cupolas form one of the most photographed features of the eastern hillside overlooking the Old City.
