This small royal temple was founded by King Mongkut in the 1860s as a first-class monastery near the Grand Palace, built for the Thammayut reform order he championed. Its main hall is faced with grey marble and sheltered by a covered gallery, while interior murals record royal ceremonies and even an early depiction of a solar eclipse observation. Visitors find a quiet, formally arranged compound with a Khmer-style prang and finely carved doors, a calm contrast to the busier temples nearby.
