This octagonal domed tomb stands on a traffic island near the entrance to the Nizamuddin area and dates from the early Mughal period of the sixteenth century. Its most distinctive feature is the tiled dome, whose restored turquoise and blue glazing gives the monument its name, meaning green tower. Recessed arches, coloured tilework and a tall drum lend it an unusually decorative appearance among Delhi's early tombs. A careful restoration returned the dazzling tiled cap to its likely original scheme.
