This dense south Delhi neighbourhood grew up around a cluster of Lodi and Sayyid-era tombs, several of which still stand embedded among later houses and shops. Domed mausoleums, small mosques and a fragment of an old wall survive within the tangle of lanes, a striking example of medieval monuments absorbed into a living urban settlement. Structures such as the Bare Khan and Chhote Khan tombs punctuate the streetscape. The area offers a chance to see Sultanate architecture woven directly into an everyday market quarter.
