This small round tower on the northern ridge became a poignant landmark of the 1857 uprising, when British residents fleeing the outbreak in the city gathered here before retreating. Built earlier in the nineteenth century as a signalling and observation post, its plain cylindrical form crowns a wooded rise overlooking the old cantonment. A plaque records the events that unfolded around it during the rebellion. Set within the forested ridge that arcs across north Delhi, it draws history enthusiasts and walkers.
