This 14th-century Byzantine church in the upper part of Thessaloniki was built as the katholikon of a monastery during the Palaeologan period. Its distinctive triconch plan, with rounded projections on three sides and a raised central dome, is unusual among the city's churches and reflects influences from the monastic architecture of Mount Athos. Fragments of fresco survive within, and the exterior displays decorative brickwork. Converted to a mosque under Ottoman rule and later restored to Orthodox worship.
