Built directly over the birthplace of Montreal, this archaeology and history museum lets visitors walk among excavated foundations, a stone sewer, and remnants of the earliest French settlement preserved beneath the modern city. Multimedia presentations and reconstructed spaces trace the site from Indigenous presence through colonial trade to the present. The complex incorporates several historic buildings and an old customs house linked by underground passages following the original riverbank.
