The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours is a small pilgrimage church in Old Montreal, often called the Sailors' Church for its long association with mariners who left votive ship models in gratitude for safe voyages. The present stone building dates to the early eighteenth century, rebuilt on the site of a chapel founded by Marguerite Bourgeoys in the 1650s. A rooftop statue of the Virgin gazes toward the harbour, and a tower affords views of the Old Port. A crypt museum interprets the life of its founder.
