The Ditsong National Museum of Military History in Johannesburg preserves South Africa's record of participation in twentieth-century conflicts. Its extensive indoor and outdoor displays include aircraft, tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles and small arms, some of them rare surviving examples. Galleries cover the two world wars, regional campaigns and the country's own struggles, with uniforms, medals and personal accounts. A dedicated hall addresses the armed wing of the liberation movement.
