A museum in central Copenhagen dedicated to the neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The purpose-built structure, with brightly coloured walls and painted floors, was among the earliest museums devoted to a single artist. It displays his marble and plaster sculptures of gods, heroes and portraits inspired by classical antiquity. Thorvaldsen is buried in a simple tomb in the museum's central courtyard. His personal collection of paintings and antiquities complements the sculptural galleries.
