Rådhuspladsen is the large public square in front of Copenhagen's city hall and one of the busiest gathering places in the Danish capital. Surrounded by hotels, newspaper offices and the entrance to the main shopping street, it serves as a hub for transport, demonstrations and celebrations. Monuments on and around the square include a column topped by lur-blowing figures and statues honouring notable Danes. As a central crossroads linking several districts, it has long been the stage for public life in the heart of the city.
