First Church of Otago

This Gothic Revival Presbyterian church, completed in 1873, is regarded as one of the finest examples of its style in the country and reflects the strong Scottish Presbyterian roots of Dunedin's founding. Its slender spire, tall stone facade and richly detailed interior stand on a rise in the central city. The building commemorates the church's role as the first congregation of the Otago settlement. Restored over the years, it remains an active place of worship and a heritage landmark.
