Bab Guissa is one of the historic gates in the northern ramparts of the Fes el-Bali medina, with origins in the Almohad period and later rebuilt under the Marinids. Set beside an adjoining mosque and a former palace now used as a hotel, the gate marks a traditional entry point on the road toward the Marinid Tombs and the northern hills. Its horseshoe arch and worn stonework open onto steep lanes descending into the old city. It illustrates the working fortifications that ring the medina and stays a busy passage.
