The Hassan Bek Mosque stands near the seafront on the border between Tel Aviv and Jaffa, its tall minaret a prominent landmark above the coastal boulevard. Built in 1916 during the late Ottoman period and named after the governor of Jaffa, it served the Muslim community of the Manshiya neighbourhood, most of which was later demolished. The mosque survived amid the modern towers and remains active. Its slender minaret is one of the few reminders of the old Arab quarter that once occupied the shore.
