Few places hold more Modern Movement architecture than Tel Aviv's White City. Raised from the early 1930s into the 1950s on Sir Patrick Geddes's organic urban plan, the quarter was designed by European-trained architects who carried their profession with them when they immigrated, translating modernism into a new cultural context under Mediterranean light. The White City was inscribed by UNESCO in 2003.
