The Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv stands on Allenby Street in the centre of the city, one of the largest and most prominent synagogues in the metropolitan area. Opened in 1926, its imposing façade was later remodelled with a curved arcade of arches that wrap around the corner site. The interior features a lofty domed sanctuary, stained glass, and a large ark. Once surrounded by the commercial bustle of the growing city, the synagogue remains an active place of worship and a notable example of early-20th-century religious architecture in Tel Aviv.
