The Duke's Diwan is the oldest surviving residential building in downtown Amman, dating to 1924 and located on historic King Faisal Street. Over the decades it served as the country's first post office, the Ministry of Finance, and a hotel before falling into disrepair. A Jordanian businessman restored it as a cultural salon and small museum, filling its rooms with period photographs, furniture, and memorabilia of old Amman. Open free of charge, it offers a quiet look at the capital's early-20th-century civic life.
