The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts sits on Jabal al-Weibdeh, one of Amman's older and more artistic neighbourhoods. Founded in 1980, it holds a large collection of modern and contemporary art from Jordan and the wider Islamic and developing world, spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, and works on paper. The gallery occupies two buildings facing a small park and regularly hosts rotating exhibitions. It offers a rare window onto artistic movements from countries whose work is seldom shown in major Western institutions.
