Tucked into a corner of the Baroque Zwinger complex, this ornamental bath garden is an easily overlooked ensemble of grottoes, fountains and sculpted nymphs from the early eighteenth century. Water cascades down tiered basins framed by rusticated stone and mythological figures carved by Balthasar Permoser and his workshop. Once part of the electoral court's festivities, the sunken court offers a quieter counterpoint to the crowded pavilions above. A distinctive feature is the shell-encrusted niches from which water spills into the pool.
