The Fürstenzug, or Procession of Princes, is a vast mural running along an outer wall of the Dresden royal palace complex. It depicts a mounted parade of the rulers of the House of Wettin, portraying margraves, electors, and kings of Saxony across roughly eight centuries. Originally painted in the nineteenth century, it was later transferred onto around twenty-four thousand porcelain tiles from the nearby Meissen manufactory to withstand the weather. Stretching about a hundred metres, it survived the wartime firestorm largely intact.
