A historic covered market and former church in the northern part of old Nicosia, standing beside the great Gothic cathedral turned mosque. Originally a Byzantine and later Gothic religious building, it was used under Ottoman rule as a cloth and grain market. Restoration has preserved its carved doorways and vaulted interior, now used as a venue for cultural events and performances. Its blend of ecclesiastical architecture and commercial function reflects the varied history of the city centre.
