A pedestrian crossing point on the main shopping street of old Nicosia that links the two halves of the divided capital. Opened after decades of closure, it allows people to pass between the southern and northern sectors along what had been a sealed section of the buffer zone. On either side lie contrasting streetscapes of shops, cafés and historic buildings. The crossing has become a symbol of the city's division and the everyday movement now permitted across the line.
