This mausoleum on the historic plain of Kosovo Polje near Pristina marks the traditional burial place of the internal organs of Sultan Murad I, the Ottoman ruler killed at the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. The domed tomb, surrounded by a walled compound with a caretaker's residence and small mosque, has been rebuilt over the centuries. It remains a site of pilgrimage and a place of memory tied to one of the most significant battles in Balkan history. The green-roofed türbe stands amid gardens on the open fields where the medieval armies clashed.
