Also known as the Fatih Mosque or Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque, this is the oldest and most significant Ottoman mosque in Pristina, built in the 15th century shortly after the Ottoman conquest and named for Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. Its square prayer hall is covered by a large dome resting on an octagonal drum, with a tall stone minaret beside it. During the Habsburg occupation in the late 17th century it briefly served as a Catholic church. Restored in modern times, it remains an active place of worship in the historic core of the capital.
