The distinctive pink-red facade of this Baroque church presides over Prešeren Square in the heart of Ljubljana. Built in the seventeenth century for the Franciscan order, its warm-toned front and twin towers form a defining backdrop to the city's central meeting place. Inside, a grand high altar of coloured marble by the sculptor Francesco Robba and frescoes damaged and restored over time fill the nave. Its steps, facing the poet's monument and the Triple Bridge, are among the most frequented gathering spots in the capital.
