This modern pedestrian bridge links the central market to the opposite bank of the Ljubljanica, completing a river crossing envisioned generations earlier by the architect Jože Plečnik. Its glass-decked span is lined with bronze sculptures of mythological figures by the artist Jakov Brdar, some contorted in unsettling poses. Railings hung with love padlocks left by couples have become a feature of the walk. Framed by the market colonnade and views toward the castle, it is a lively spot in the heart of the old town.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
